OVERVIEW

Storytelling for Social Change

Storytelling is a powerful tool for activism. Stories have the power to break barriers, build connections, unite, persuade, inspire and educate. Being able to successfully communicate moving stories across different media is key to affect social change at local, national, and global levels.

Storytelling 101

Stories Matter

Every great movement starts with a story. Building effective narratives is an important leadership skill. Because girls and women do not have the same opportunities to create stories or see them come to life, their stories are simply not being told, and their voices are not being heard. Girl Up is on a mission to #AmplifyHER – sharing tips and resources on how young women activists can tell their stories, their way, and build effective narratives through photography, video, writing, social media, and public speaking.

Video Series

Watch the Storytelling for Social Change video series. Submit a story. Inspire someone to do the same! When Girl Up leaders use their voices, it’s the spark that could ignite a movement to change the world for the better.
