Girl Up will be joining forces with Girls Health Ed, a nonprofit organization founded, operated, and led by women of color whose mission is to provide young women and girls—ages 8 and above—the comprehensive health and sexuality education they need.Â
Through in-depth workshops led by trained Teaching Fellows, Girls Health Ed has been able to meet the needs of the whole girl and teach on all aspects of health. Their always-evolving curriculum has covered topics including body image, self-esteem, puberty and personal care, nutrition, violence prevention, healthy relationships and consent, menstrual health, and reproductive health. The organization maximizes its impact by targeting areas with high rates of HIV/AIDS and other STIs, early and unwanted pregnancy, gender-based violence, and obesity, and can be found in the United States, Kenya, and India.Â
That’s why Girl Up is so excited to announce this partnership with Girls Health Ed!Â
Currently, Girl Up has developed the leadership skills of 95,000 girls in 5,000 Clubs in 130 countries. This collaboration means uniting even more girl activists and supporters with a shared goal of advancing girls’ skills, rights, and opportunities to be leaders. By working together, Girl Up and Girls Health Ed seeks to inspire and equip girls with the knowledge, abilities, and network to spark social change, to stand in solidarity against gender-based violence, and to foster girl-led solutions to create safer communities for girls everywhere.
