Plastic pollution is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time, with over 11 million tons entering our oceans each year—a number set to triple by 2040 unless action is taken. To address this pressing issue, Girl Up USA and Ocean Wise joined forces for Earth Day 2024 to launch the Heal Our Planet campaign.
This initiative empowered girls ages 13-24 to take action by leading Shoreline Cleanups, equipping them with resources, training, and financial support to make a measurable impact. By combining education, leadership, and environmental stewardship, participants turned awareness into action to protect our shared future.
