Heal Our Planet is Girl Up USA’s annual climate action campaign focused on tackling plastic pollution and protecting our planet, starting with our shorelines. This initiative activates youth nationwide each year to clean up local environments, raise awareness, and advocate for lasting environmental change.
Through Heal Our Planet, Girl Up is creating a national network of young environmental leaders committed to reducing plastic pollution and building a cleaner, greener future for all.
Activate, Advocate, and Action.
Girl Up chapters had the unique opportunity to organize a Shoreline Cleanup and make a difference for the ocean, other bodies of water, and their communities. Leading a Shoreline Cleanup is a simple and tangible way for our leaders to create a sustainable future, one shoreline cleanup at a time!
2025 By the Numbers
- 558.9 pounds of trash collected
- 19 cleanups and 17 states represented
- 207 of youth involved
- 32.7 miles of shoreline cleaned up
By participating in a Shoreline Cleanup, our leaders not only prevent plastic pollution from harming marine wildlife, but also contribute to a collective action effort to track how much and what kind of trash is showing up on shorelines.
This data is aggregated and used to help inform plastic pollution policy for government and businesses, amplifying the impact of your ocean conservation efforts!

Political Advocacy for Climate Action
We will ADVOCATE for political climate action to engage with and influence policymakers, governments, and political systems to create and implement laws, regulations, and policies that address climate change. This type of advocacy is crucial for driving large-scale change, as government policies often have the power to regulate emissions, encourage renewable energy adoption, and protect the environment.

I am committed to ensuring that environmental justice is at the forefront of every single field
