National Clothing Drive

Fitted for the Future

A collaboration between Girl Up USA, Youth Advisors and Dress for Success, and YOU!

Fitted for the Future was a national service campaign designed by Girl Up youth advisors and powered by youth leaders, clubs, volunteers, and our partners at Dress for Success. Together, they transformed professional clothing into confidence, and community action into real-world impact. At its core, the campaign addressed a simple but powerful truth: access to professional attire can be a barrier to economic mobility. Through locally led career-closet clothing drives, youth leaders worked to dismantle that barrier in their own communities. One outfit, one conversation, one act of service at a time.

What began as a service initiative became something bigger: a collective movement rooted in style equity, leadership, and care.

campaign at a glance

  • 1,217 professional clothing items collected
  • 12 Girl Up USA Clubs and Coalitions
  • 303 youth participants and volunteers collaborating with Dress for Success’s Network Members nationwide

What Youth Leaders accomplished

  • Organized and hosted local professional clothing drives
  • Partnered with nearby Dress for Success network members, local businesses, and community organizations
  • Styled standout outfits from donated pieces
  • Shared stories, reflections, and impact reports from their communities
  • Participated in a national fit-styling competition celebrating creativity and care
  • Youth leaders participated individually and through clubs and coalitions, often expanding their reach by mobilizing friends, classmates, and volunteers to support the effort.

Fitted for the Future Zine

To honor the creativity, leadership, and collective effort behind the campaign, we created the Fitted for the Future Zine, a digital publication that fully documents the experience from start to finish.

Inside the zine, you’ll find:

  • Campaign impact highlights
  • Club and coalition stories from across the network
  • Fit competition winners
  • Behind-the-scenes moments with youth advisors who helped design and lead the campaign
