Rachel Auslander, Co-Chair

Hi! I’m Rachel and I am a senior at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I am so excited to return as a Co-Chair for this year’s Teen Advisor class!

I founded a Girl Up club at my school two years ago. We have raised over $10,000 through numerous fundraisers, including bake sales, concerts, and 5ks. Our club organized a day of activities on the International Day of the Girl to teach our entire high school about the importance of gender equality. We also met with our representatives at in-district meetings, made calls, and wrote numerous letters to advocate for Girl Up.

I founded CoderGals, an after-school program where high school female mentors teach elementary school girls how to code. The program has reached girls in 11 locations in 5 states. I love sharing my knowledge with younger girls to demonstrate that coding is fun and creative!

I was selected as a 2016 HERlead Vital Voices Fellow and was a winner in the 2016 Congressional App Challenge. I am also very interested in science and participate in my school’s science research program.

In my spare time, I like to read, code, play the ukulele, run, and eat sushi.

Being a Teen Advisor was an incredible experience last year, and I can’t wait to begin working to create change this year!
